Prostock Marine manufactures its fenders and covers from start to finish in its manufacturing facility using raw materials that are all made in the United States. Although they have been approached by many foreign companies wanting to manufacture products for them at a lower cost, they maintain that they want to keep their products “100 percent made in the USA.” This allows for better quality control and easy availability of their products.
Prostock Marine has 15 stock sizes in three colors, but can make any size requested in a relatively short turnaround. The material used is extremely lightweight and has been tested for bursting pressure. They have manufactured fenders with a diameter of 8 feet and as long as 40 feet. “It gets very crowded in the warehouse with this size fender,” says Whitney Tillinghast, “and it’s a challenge to work with such large pieces of material that have to be welded in excess of 1,000 degrees on a heat welding machine, but we are happy to fulfill the customers’ needs.” Prostock Marine can also produce special custom-made fenders for swim platforms in need of protection from tenders and jet skis, as well as their own Suction Cleat, which was designed and engineered by Whitney and serves a number of purposes on yachts, from securing a small tender to removing a glass windshield. Again, this is manufactured right here in South Florida and distributed all over the world.
